Well I put $500 in Cake today to give it one more shot before I go on an extended seasonal break.  I think I did pretty well.  I made 3 final tables:

Congratulations mandioca,

Out of 444 players in Tournament 7712173 (Nightly $10K Guaranteed - Bounty), you came in 3rd and have won $870.24.

You've also been awarded 10.5 FPP for participating in the tournament.

Best wishes,
The Cake Poker Team

Congratulations mandioca,

Out of 185 players in Tournament 7711228 (Daily $17.5K Guaranteed), you came in 7th and have won $629.00.

You've also been awarded 31.5 FPP for participating in the tournament.

Best wishes,
The Cake Poker Team

Congratulations mandioca,

Out of 141 players in Tournament 7711821 ($10K Guaranteed - R&A), you came in 2nd and have won $1,346.40.

You've also been awarded 10.5 FPP for participating in the tournament.

Best wishes,
The Cake Poker Team

The final win was actually a chop for 1st place with me getting the better money, but the guy plays on Sportsbook so he wasn't able to accept a transfer from me so I dumped to him and he transferred to me on Stars.  Great guy.  His name is Ben and I gave him the addy here and I hope he will come around.  It was fun playing with him.  We grinded for nearly an hour before just deciding to do a fairly even chop just to get it over with.  I didn't realize that Cake does not help players negotiate chops.  Kinda sucky.  Sorry my post isn't more interesting, but I am frazzled to the point where I was playing poorly on the bounty that I just finished 3rd in.  I kinda just lost interest with 6 left and took third by default.  That pisses me off in hindsight as I was quite a bit better than everyone at the table and just didn't play.  Off for some rest now.  I work 6 days a week the next few weeks so this was my one day off bw^ ^t ^b ^i :'(.  GL everyone!!!

So I haven't posted anything in a while and just wanted to give a short update.  I busted my account about a month ago and just ran even worse than normal from the beginning of the year until then.  I say "busted",  but actually I had $27.92 in my account.  Over last weekend I played off some of my gold chips in the quad up to riches.  I won a seat in the $55 evening turbo and ended up finishing a disappointing 20 something after enduring consecutive beats.  I think Nineup witnessed that as he commented as I was closing my window.  It did boost my account to around $90.  On Tuesday evening I got off work after an hour as we were slow and overstaffed.  I felt an itch to see what I could do with that $90 and I played the $5 rebuy.  I ended up doing fairly well, but eventually was handed another beat and ended up just short of the FT.  I ended the night with about what I started with as I played a few sngs and didn't do so well.

Friday I called in to work as I couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes and feared that I would not make it through even an hour of my shift.  I played some satties and some sngs and ended up the night with $247 in my account.

This morning I wanted to play the $33 rebuy to start my day, but I was in too much pain to sit comfortable so I got up and did some stretching and had lunch with Tatiana.  I made it back for the $12 satties to the 17.5k and the 20k and bubbled the 17.5k.  I was pissed as a short stack with 4k moved all in at 1600 blinds and the BB folded with a 20k+ stack.  I folded several medium pairs and an A7s that would have flopped two pair waiting for him to bust.  The BB was a decent player too which makes me wonder if there was something amok.  I ended up busting when I jammed A8o and was called by KQo who had no business calling as he would have less than 1/4 of a bb if he lost the hand and was in the SB.  Needless to say I won neither seat.

I did win a few sngs and stayed about even and ended up direct buying in to the 17.5k and busted out shortly after the 1st break.  I registered for the $10 rebuy just before the registration closed and doubled immediately and added on.  Some n00bs at the table were complaining about a guy who kept shoving junk and doubling people.  I tried to let them know that this was a great asset to the table and that trying to slow him down would only hurt us.  I truly hate when shortrolled n00bs play micro rebuys without the stomach or the roll to handle them.  That is another story though.

I grinded around in this tourney while I pissed away most of my remaining balance trying to qualify for the $162 (which I didn't).  I had $10 left in my account when I finally just focused my attention on the $10 rebuy with about 40 left.

I had a chance at chiplead with about 30 left as T9h in EMP shoved about 1/3 of my stack and I had AKo on the button and reshoved.  Of course I lost.  I then had AK lose to A6 and had to go back to work.  I worked my stack back up to top 5 with 17 left and then took another similar AK losing to A9 beat.  That left me in the bottom 3.  I grinded around and started the final table with 80k at 8k blinds.

I had a very fortunate situation occur and made the most of it.  I had 70k with 10k blinds and UTG shoved 100k and I had JJ in MP and put my chips in and SB woke up with QQ and got it in.  UTG had AJh and somehow the case J fell on the flop and I tripled up.  From there it was just solid poker to a 4 to 1 HU deficit.  I made it to 2 to 1 but never could get better than that and lost the final hand with Q7h to 64o when the flop came 8s6h4h and we got it in on the flop.  A Q on the turn and then the river a blank:

Congratulations mandioca,

Out of 371 players in Tournament 8067962 ($10,000 Guaranteed - R&A), you came in 2nd and have won $1,533.86.

You've also been awarded 3.5 FPP for participating in the tournament.

Best wishes,

I just established my own new personal record today.  I made the evening 33 rebuy FT and was in decent shape until I lost with 88 to 55 AIP with a sweet little 5 on the turn.  I win I have top 3 stack, but I lost and had less than 2 bb's left.  That is nothing new or surprising so what is the new personal best you may ask?  It is closely tied to this hand and that is why I brought it up in the first place.  I have now had 7 consecutive FT's where I have lost with an overpair to a set AIP where it either railed me or put me in a desperation situation (4 bbs or less).  7 Straight times.  It is downright hard to even imagine and had I not been writing down the hands I had lost on for the past 25 or so FT's I would have never guessed it.  Such a freaking waste of time to end up even for the day with a 7th place.  I guess I will go and bang my head against a wall.  I did win a coin flip on the final table so I suppose I should be grateful although it didn't move me up any places in the money.  When I turn over a coin flip situation in the last two tables I just start packing my bags and heading for the door.  I had a real shot at doing well in the Stars 70k when with about 300 left I had in the BB and the CO jammed his stack (7k) and the Button jammed his stack (20k) and I had AA and called with about 30k stack (would have been comfortably in the top 5).  The 7k had AA and the 20k had KK and sure enough a K flopped.  This is after I had a similar situation in the 20k gtd on Wednesday with AK and another had AK and the guy with AJ won with about 15 left.  That chop would have given me a comfortable stack.  Man oh man I run serious ass. I hope Mets ran better today than I did but I am guessing not so much as I didn't see him very deep in anything on Stars. SUX

It's going to turn around one day Justin, and you're going to 5 figure cash one of these bad boy's   O0

Look on the bright side, at least you are a consistent casher.  The same thing happens to me a handful of spots before the money.  I find that in most tourneys I play, if I can make the money I can run at least last 2 tables.  But instead I fight though games short stacked and will wake up with AA and lose AIPF to K3o for nothing but a waste of time.  The game you commented on earlier when I saw your beats I ended up FT'ing and threw it on a cold read to a spewing lagtard.

Just keep plugging away mate and even if you win little by little you are still a winning player so don't let it get you down to much.

I'm currently grinding it out on Full Tilt from $5 to nearly $530 ($T, Tokens and actual money) after shooting my BR to pretty much nothing after about 2 weeks of what I previously described.  Last game I played I bubbled a satellite AIPF AA vs KJo vs 98s.  Of course I was holding AA and KJo hits 4 runners for a flush, finished with $19.50  instead of $55T with a $15 buyin.  Grinding is bitter/sweet.
I have as much luck as I suck

So I am going to post another whine so stop reading now if that sort of thing bothers you.  I made the 109 HS FT tonight after making the 5 rebuy FT and getting raped last night.  I have only played those 2 tourneys the past two nights as I have gotten out of work early.  Tonight was beautiful.  With 5 left I get AQo on the button and raised to 3299 at 1200 (my standard raise) and the SB shoves 32k with me having 29k and the winner of that hand is #2 by a wide margin and of course I make the standard call.  He flips AcTc and says "nh" immediately.  Flop Kc6cJc.  I say, "not so much."  River is Jc just to poor a bit of salt in the wound.  It is truly remarkable how bad I run in critical situations.

PS:  I do have to say that I played against ryanpatclark for the second straight night and he had a stretch from two tables on against the player kmbond that was one of the more exciting performances I have witnessed in a long time.  You had to see it and I wish there was a video feature on Cake like there is on Stars because it would be one for the ages for certain.  The rail was pretty abusive at the end of the tourney, but he took a pretty nasty beat shortly after I was knocked out and we were both on the rail and I told him to hang around.  I let him know how much I appreciated watching him play during that stretch.  It was entertaining to see the rail telling me I was gay and such.  I imagine none of the rail had played enough poker to really understand how great the performance was.  Anyway, suffice to say he gets high marks in my book!

***At one point the rail asked if I liked the cock in the ass or in the mouth and my answer was, "well my wife says it is too big for her ass so I suppose I prefer the mouth." The chat would have been a nice bit to post here, but again that is nearly impossible to do with Cake's software.

Haha good read MM, we're both due for a 1st place pretty damn soon!

P.S. You might want to email this into Cake...

Flop Kc6cJc.  I say, "not so much."  River is Jc just to poor a bit of salt in the wound.

Re: So I've been playing on Cake
« Reply #370 on: April 12, 2010, 11:11:53 PM »
So yesterday I had a nice post typed up on my desktop and when my computer crashed it lost the post.  I will summarize it quickly:

In morning $33 rebuy I was in a hand for chip lead with less then 35 players.  KK in SB and EMP shoved 6k at 1k blinds.  I reshove 31k and BB doesn't even hesitate to snap call.  He had AK.  You know what happened.  Didn't even cash.  50k GTD bubble just burst and I had 1600 chips at 2k blinds.  I put it in with T8c in MP and the two players to my immediate left called and my guardian angel button jammed 64k and everyone folded.  He had 54s and I turned a str8 and quintupled.  In a few minutes I was at around 70k without ever putting it in behind.  We get down to two tables and the fun begins.  AA can't beat A9 if I remember correctly.  I lose a flip and then I lose a 60/40 from ahead.  Busto 17th.  125k GTD.  10 or 20 left until money and I had about an average stack of 25k.  It is 1k blinds and I raised to 2999 (standard 1k level raise for me) from UTG with KK and my left insta shoves 30k and two to his left who has been tight with 60k stack insta reshoves.  I think for a second and fold!  Wow I am an idiot.  My left has AKo and big stack has QQ and flop was K2Q and I would have been in top 5 in chips.  I busto shortly after the bubble after losing with AJ to AT and then some unimportant, unremembered hands.

Today:  I hurt back really bad tossing in bed last night.  Can't explain it, but didn't work needless to say.  I played the 17.5k and was doing really well having my favorites hold and then we got down to about 30 and I lost a SLEW of coin flips with AJ vs 99 being the most damaging.  I ended up busting after flopping a pair and getting it in and losing to over cards that flushed.  That was fun.  I was doing really well in the 20k gtd too until I lost with AK to AJ and followed that up with a huge coin flip loss of QQ to AK.  I don't win flips once the tourney is down to 40 or less.  Well I was doing really well in the 33 rebuy as well.  All of this was going on at the same time.  We were down to 2 tables and I was in top 5 stacks and really playing well.  UTG limped at 1200 which I thought was really strange so I limped with my 77 to be safe and SB jammed 6k and UTG folded and I called and SB had 55 and sure enough 55 wins 'er!  Then about a dozen hands later the player that limped in that hand jams about 10 bbs from MP and I have KK and rejam and he/she flips over KQo.  Well guess what?!?! KQ is better than KK when the flop comes AQJ and the river is another sweet little Queen.  So instead of having 70k+ and number 1 or two stack I am clinging to life.  We get down to FT and I am second shortest stack and first hand the table lets the short stack walk.  That short stack is the player who's KQ is better than my KK.  I figured it was telling of things to come.  This brings me to a funny tidbit, and don't mind the lack of paragraphing if you will, at 1600 on the FT bubble the button limped.  Nothing funny about that really.  Then the SB shoves for less than 4k.  I would say just over 3k in fact.  BB calls and button calls.... NO WAIT, WHAT?!??! BUTTON FOLDS???? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!??! How does a player that plays like that make it this deep with a stack?  Ah ok nevermind that shit.  That person donked off that stack as the first out with ATo against AJo on the FT.  YAY me I move up one spot before the inevitable.  But the irony is just so biting!  I have about 27k and raise to 5599 at 2k from EMP and BB jams a bazillion and I call of course with my JJ.  What else am I to do?  BB has AK and I could just close my client now because 9th is a lock.  Sure enough, lock 'er up.  The irony you ask??  BB happened to be the guy who's 55 was superior to my 77.  I hear you over there Tireman saying, "that's the way it goes sometimes, that's poker!"  No, that is the way it goes MOST ALL OF THE TIME and that has been 3 years of poker for me.  I still won over the past two days, but a minuscule fraction of what was there to win.  Thanks luck for repeatedly bashing me in the mouth with a spiked wooden ogre slaying club +5.

Well it was either laugh or cry. It was so bad it was funny.  I should have tons of good karma! I donated to Wyclef Jean's Haiti fund through my cell phone and I have provided shelter for small forest animals. I wonder if buddhists are luckier. Or Hindi? Hey Metsfan, do you know anything about that?
